You have probably more than likely come across this struggle yourself, where you have just had you colour freshly done and it starts to lose its vibrancy and longevity after a couple of weeks. But have you ever thought that your straighteners could be one of the biggest culprits for your lovely fresh colour fading so quickly?
Just take a look at these snap shots that prove it all!
Your colour works by penetrating the hair shaft with tiny molecules that lock into the cortex of your hair and the cuticle is then sealed down to lock in your colour. If you use hair straighteners on a too high heat setting the heat opens up your hairs cuticle leaving room for your colour to escape and literally evaporate into thin air! It's not just straighteners you need to watch out for even your hairdryer can do this so always use a medium heat setting and plenty of heat protection! Simply like having your water too hot in the bath or shower will contribute to your colour fading, just like hot water opens up the pores on your face, hot water works exactly the same way on your hair too!
Now we are not saying you have to ditch the straighteners completely but it could be a good time to say goodbye to your old straighteners that don't have a heat control setting! If this has made your mind up that it's time to make the switch one fantastic pair that I can recommend are the multi award winning cloud9 hair straighteners. The innovative temperature control means you can style from a friendly 100 degrees! Looking after your hair and your colour too! What's not to love?
What do you think? Surprised and time for a straightener upgrade?
